Service Description

Three Hour Workshop (11am- 2pm): The word “cage” sounds hard and contrictive. It sounds locked! But our rib cage is incredibly flexible and meant to pulsate with breath. Meanwhile the modern western world tells us that breathing into the chest causes anxiety. Which is largely untrue. Your chest is meant to move with breath and in so doing massage (and calm) your exquisite heart. Therefore we’ll call this part of our body the rib temple*. The modern body has, in many cases, locked down much of our rib temple’s organic movement. And in so doing has tamped down access to additional ease, energy & joy. Wouldn’t you love to reclaim it? At the intersection of somatic anatomy, breathwork & journaling, we’ll clear out constriction and craft space for the breath and the freedom that’s our birthright. This workshop will include: Gentle movement & breath awareness Mudra (sacred hand gesture) Anatomical models plus lecture & discussion Lucious journaling prompts & journaling Who is this workshop for: No yoga experience necessary Wonderful for yoga practitioners Wonderful for Yoga teachers Those interested in breath’s healing capacities Those with breathing challenges stemming from covid *The phrase ‘rib temple’ comes from Shiva Rea. We use & pass it on in gratitude. Free the Rib Cage/ Free the Breath: A Two Hour Master Class (3pm-5pm) The rib cage is meant to oscillate with breath. And in so doing, its movements massage our nervous system and our heart to generate increased health and ease. The rib cage is also meant to “shape-change” as we move our body. And that movement-generated “shape changing” creates the very flexibility and tone needed for the rib cage to oscillate with breath. This class is a soft sojourn of awakening our rib cage and its healing movement capacities. This class includes: Juicy restorative poses that aid in opening the rib cage (rib temple) Breathwork and mudra (sacred hand gesture) Anatomical models paired with lecture & discussion.
